Truck the boat from FL to RI in February……..for good reason…
The year is 2006, scenario as follows: Potential client in Tampa, FL contacts JBY with a whole slew of Swan 46 questions, gets some quick and experienced answers, gains some confidence with the craftsmen up north, and thus decides to disassemble his boat in sunny Florida, place on a truck (with 8.5’ keel in dead of NE winter), and have refit in Jamestown, all in time for the Swan Regatta in July, likes it so much up here ends up sticking around ever since.
Since that time DESTINY has undergone the following projects: New teak decks, with new deck layout & new sailing hardware. New forward hatch. New main engine. New rod & running rigging. Awlgrip topsides & spars. De-scale & re-coat mast/keel grid. Refit lower rudder bearing. New stove system. New sanitation systems. New interior upholstery & exterior canvas. New electric winches that can be easily utilized for all major sail controls. New batteries & solar panel charging system.
During the past few years, DESTINY cruised most places between Maine and the Caribbean, collected a few racing trophies, and is well maintained/prepared to continue and go beyond………
